Privacy by Design is a framework that requires privacy protections to be embedded into technology systems during development rather than added as an afterthought. For AI chat platforms, this means minimising what personal data is collected by default, encrypting data in transit and at rest, giving users control over their data, and auditing third-party integrations for data leakage. GDPR explicitly endorses Privacy by Design as the standard for responsible data processing.
