Core Concepts
AI Chatbot
A conversational program that uses AI to respond to user messages.
An AI chatbot uses machine learning — typically large language models — to understand and generate human-like responses. Unlike rule-based chatbots that follow fixed scripts, AI chatbots can handle open-ended questions, maintain context across a conversation, and improve their responses with better prompting or fine-tuning. The term is often used interchangeably with 'AI chat agent', though 'agent' typically implies greater autonomy and the ability to take actions.
